About Us

It was early in 1981 that a young college kid, with a degree in Recreation and a thirst for adventure, first applied for a job managing a Diving and Outdoor equipment store in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  The owner (one Kenneth Q. McCracken) offered him the job, with one small caveat … the young man had to learn to SCUBA dive.

From that moment the attraction and excitement of the marine world took hold of his heart and mind…  The young man took the challenge…  He became a Diver, a Master Diver, a Rescue Diver, a Search and Recovery Diver… and the list goes on… to Instructor.  He managed that landlocked dive shop and taught SCUBA diving there in the quarries of Virginia for several years.  He then moved south to teach diving and marine science with the Associated Marine Institutes organization in Houston…

He served as the Director of Operations of the Charleston Marine Institute in South Carolina, the Tampa Marine Institute in Florida, and Executive Director of the Jacksonville Marine Institute.  He got the chance to teach and dive all over the coastal waters of the southern United States!  Then, in the late 1980’s he moved back to the Northeast and into the realm of commercial and salvage diving.  He worked first on the Delaware Bay, and then the Chesapeake Bay recovering sunken yachts and vessels, performing subsurface inspections and repairs, and training new divers.

Decades later, the young man is back in Florida, at the helm of Dive Solutions and Services, L.L.C. where his love of diving and his love of service to people continues!
